Charitable Activities

The club serves the community with both practical activity and financial support. The funds raised by the club are all for the benefit of charitable causes, all administrative costs being met by the members.

We give donations to local individuals and institutions who need our help - for more details of these see Donations ,
as well as supporting wider calls for aid, such as the Asian Tsunami, especially where these are sponsored by other Lions Clubs or Lions Clubs International, as this gives us confidence that the money will be used well.

We also run or help with a variety of Service Activities :
particularly for young, such as the It's A Knockout Event for Special Needs Schools and the Peace Poster Competition,
and the elderly, such as regular Bingo evenings in local rest homes, and Coach outings.

FUNDRAISING : we undertake various activities to raise funds and other material support for our own charitable causes, such as the Adur Vintage Transport Fayre, a Greyhounds Charity Evening and various Car Boot sales. We  help other local organisations, such as running Cake Sales at Southlands Hospital to raise funds on behalf of the Hospital as well as participating in Lion's projects at District, national and international levels.
We enjoy a very happy working relationship with other major service clubs such as Rotary, in particular combining our resources for Christmas collections. These provide a basket of seasonal fare for carefully selected individuals, as well as a Spring concert and a Summer coach outing.
