Lions help out at Royal George Fun Weekend
The Royal George (where we hold our regular Business Meetings) decided to provide some much needed asisstance to a local family who have two children suffering with a terrible illness - Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This life limiting illness has affected the couple's two boys, now aged 8 and 3 and the George's publican and regulars wanted to provide some financial assistance to give the children, perhaps a holiday or some days out.
The pub called on the services of the Lions, the RNLI and the local Fire Brigade and came up with the idea of a bed push around Shoreham on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The route (purely coincidentally) took the pushers, the beds and collectors around a number of pubs in Shoreham and our thanks go to the regulars at The Green Jacket, The Crabtree Inn, The Buckingham Arms, The Ferry Inn, The Crown and Anchor, Marlipins, The Lazy Toad, The Bridge Inn and The Red Lion for joining in. Thanks also to Shoreham's local businesses and members of the public who gave us a donation
And finally, a great big thank you should be extended to the RNLI, the Shoreham Fire Brigade and Royal George for doing all the hard work, pushing two beds on a (thankfully) warm Bank Holiday afternoon. Click here for some more pictures of the push.
The Royal George hope this will become a regular annual event and if you have a fund raising idea, please get in touch with the Lions Club or the Royal George
